The Antibiotic Resistance and Multidrug Resistance Pattern of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli at Soba University Hospital: A Descriptive Retrospective Survey
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: The irrational use of antibiotics for the treatment urinary tract infections (UTIs) may lead to increased antimicrobial resistance among uropathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli), as well multidrug worldwide, which will limit available options UTIs caused by these organisms. This study aimed determine pattern E. causing in out-patients and in-patients Soba University Hospital.
Methods: Data were collected from laboratory records Department Microbiology Teaching Hospital using a predesigned checklist then analyzed statistical package social sciences. Bivariate analysis (Chi-square test) was used compare between variables.
 Results: Out 231 urine cultures, 160 (69.3%) females. results showed high ampicillin (92.4%), amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (83.3%), cephalexin (90.6%), cefuroxime (72%), ceftazidime (71%), ceftriaxone ciprofloxacin (68%), co-trimoxazole (75.3%). Collectively, around 188 (81.4%) multidrug-resistant. On other hand, sensitivities isolates 68.8%, 93.1%, 89.4%, 100% gentamicin, amikacin, carbapenems, respectively.
Conclusion: rate observed be commonly prescribed drugs UTIs, including ampicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, different cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones, co-trimoxazole. However, lower rates nitrofurantoin, carbapenems. Thus, can reserved empirical coli.

Molecular Characterization and Antimicrobial Resistance of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli
Background:Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are the most common infectious diseases in childhood. The Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) strains account for as much as 80% of UTIs. Objective:From a clinical perspective, it is important to know which virulence factors and antibiotic resistance properties are present in UPEC strains in pediatrics. Therefore, this study was carried out...

متن کاملAntibiotic Resistance Pattern and Phylogenetic Groups of the Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Isolates Recovered from the Urinary Catheters of the Hospitalized Patients
Introduction: Almost 80% of nosocomial urinary tract infections (UTIs) are due to catheterization. Catheter-associated UTI (CAUTI) is the primary source for colonization of antibiotic-resistant pathogens, and uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is the most common causative bacteria. This study was conducted to determine the phylogenetic groups, and antibiotic resistance pattern as the two imp...

Resistant uropathogenic Escherichia coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections in dogs. The present research was done to study the prevalence rate and antimicrobial resistance properties of UPEC strains isolated from healthy dogs and those which suffered from UTIs. Four-hundred and fifty urine samples were collected and cultured. E. coli-positive strains were subjected to disk di...
